Established homegrown celebrity singer-songwriter Tay Kewei returns to music with her highly anticipated latest single “In Your Eyes”! It’s said that the track pays homage to Kewei and Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista’s bilingual collaboration “Please Be Careful With My Heart” back in 2010.
Supported by Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), Tay Kewei pulls together a team to shoot her music video in Hong Kong after five years. Echoing the concept of the song of showing off different aspects of yourself in the song, in the music video, Kewei can be seen in five different styles, in six different scenic locations. Fans can expect a visual feast while enjoying the music. The official music video will premiere globally on Cross Ratio Entertainment's YouTube channel on June 15.
In the track, Kewei shows that regardless of her beauty and talent, she will always find the best version of herself in her other half. Kewei speaks up about being able to be her true self in front of the person she loves despite her insecurities and flaws. In the eyes of the person she loves, her insecurities and flaws wither away and turn into strength.
Part of the 20th anniversary campaign of Christian Bautista’s career in the music industry, with Kewei being the Singapore representative amidst other regional names Julie Anne San Jose, Morissette and Ben&Ben.
Her version of “Please Be Careful With My Heart” with Christian made her win the Local New Artist (Media’s Choice) at the 16th Singapore Hit Awards.
A city that bears many memories for Kewei, Hong Kong is of special significance to her, and expresses many ‘sides’ of herself at different stages from her debut to the present very closely. Kewei’s first album Come Closer With… Kewei was ranked 4th in album sales in Hong Kong, and as a result, Kewei held several solo and group concerts there. Her latest appearance in Hong Kong was at the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival 2018, where she was invited as a guest performer. The music video features six iconic filming spots: Yau Ma Tei, Nai Chung Beach, PMQ, West Kowloon Art Park, Sai Wan Swimming Shed, and Bank Street Tram Station.
A sassy Singaporean singer-songwriter, Tay Kewei started her career as a supporting singer of superstars David Tao, A-Mei and JJ Lin. She has since released 7 full length albums and 1 EP under her belt, which broke through the Asia market regionally. Nicknamed the “angel of harmony”, Kewei plays several instruments such as the guitar, ukulele and piano, but catches most attention by playing the erhu.
Kewei’s talents has gotten her involved in many events and performances, such as the NDP Parade 2014, Celebrate SG50 Countdown show, Temasek Holding’s Jubilee at the Botanic Gardens, SEA Games 2015, ASEAN-China Friendship Concert and The Eye Ball 2017 at Goodwood Park Hotel. She held her full-fledged concert RE:BIRTH with Alfred Sim in March 2022. The long-awaited concert has garnered attention from local and international media.
Most recently, she won the 'Young Local Artist Of The Year' in the 25th Compass (Composers and Authors Society of Singapore) Awards.
